M. Mulloy & Sons sign
This sign features a lot of traditional techniques, such as marbling, lining, shading and so on. The small gold letters at the top are actually hand-cut vinyl varnished over, as I had no gold leaf at the time! The basic logotype design is taken from mid-19th century signwriting on the inside of the safe in the old shop. This sign was written for the family hardware shop in Westport, M. Mulloy & Sons, which closed in 1995 after having been in my family for generations, opening in 1762.
