The pantograph I made is based on the design available here: http://woodgears.ca/pantograph/ It was a bit fiddly to build, but the instructions are really clear and helpful, and it works very well once you get used to it. I use a Dremel, which is very handy for finer work, and it has plenty of power. You can scale down a template x2 or x3, which gives an ample range of type sizes. I have copied some old type, and filled in the gaps using my own templates cut on the scroll saw, and then scaled down to match. Another project is to develop a slab serif type based on some signwriting work, and cut that in various sizes.
